Aging and the effects of gravity cause skin and muscles of the forehead and brow to sag. Deep horizontal lines appear at the forehead and vertical lines in the center of the forehead. The eyebrows come to rest on the upper eyelids, making the eyes appear as narrow slits.
Before the operation, you are advised to stop smoking and avoid all aspirins for 2-3 weeks.

The procedure is undertaken in an outpatient clinic under local or general anesthesia. The forehead is elevated and appropriate muscles are worked upon. The suture line is well hidden in the hairline. After the operation, oral painkillers are prescribed to control the pain. Sutures are removed at 10-12 days. Swelling and bruising will subside within 3-4 weeks. Showering and general activity is resumed in 2-3 days. Bending, heavy lifting, and sports are encouraged after 3-4 weeks. Some residual numbness in scalp is common, but isn't bothersome to many patients. Permanent hair loss is rare. This procedure can be undertaken with or without endoscopes and minimal resultant scar. Often this procedure is done in conjunction with blepharoplasties and face/neck lift to enhance the overall results. Injection of BOTOX® Cosmetic may be advised in the post-operative period to further weaken strong muscles.
