In cases of underdeveloped breasts or the
breasts that have decreased in size and sagged after pregnancy,
breast augmentation can be an ideal procedure. Original shape and
size of breasts are genetically determined. Often small breasts
lead to self-consciousness and loss of self-confidence, leading
to an unhappy social life.
Before the operation, you are advised to stop smoking, stop taking
all medications containing aspirin, and also stop birth control
pills for 2-3 weeks.
The surgery is done under general anesthesia on an outpatient basis.
The breast implant can be placed under or above the muscle through various
approaches. Incisions are placed in the natural fold to minimize
visibility. Implants can be saline or silicone filled of various
shapes and sizes.
After breast augmenation surgery, pain medication will be advised to control pain.
Sutures are removed
7-8 days after the surgery. Bra support may be advised during this
time.
Breast augmentation is one of the most requested plastic surgical
procedures. Most women will have some degree of asymmetry between
their breasts. It is not always possible to create exact symmetry
since bony structures such as the rib cage and breastbone are rigid.
Breast augmentation can help balance the look of a woman's body,
improve self-confidence, allow the clothes to fit better, and possibly
lead to a happy social life.
